On 17 March 2023, following an investigation into war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian Commissioner for Children's Rights Maria Lvova-Belova for the war crime of illegal deportation and transfer of children during the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. However, to date, Ukraine has not claimed the return of any children to Russia.
